When a foreigner visit our country we can taking right round in Polonnaruva,Anuradhapura and Yaoahuwa toshow him the places of our historical valuve.
We can do so because our ancient kinds and ancestors had an marvelous things to develop our country.
They didn”t have scientifice or technical pacilities that we have not.But with all that they created. Many things for the country.Sri lanka has been recognized by the world because of those creation.Unfortunatly the present generation has safar nothing to live, behind which will be of historical value in future.
That is because they are lack of pattirioitic feelings and value. What they wan’t is to enjoy life and died. They are selfish minded. So they can’t get together and build up.Something which will last long to be of some use to the future generation. The head of nation are mostly power hunger and they
conflics, among ethnic groups.Religious, politision and rich and poor.
So they have badly and time to thing about some valuable creation which will be of benifisial to the country and future generation. In time to come our Sri lanka will be a blank full of bilding, factory and debrish of crroded vehicles.By that time the Sri lankan wan’t have anythingof historical value which would attract to werrish.

Science and technology has helped people to gain control over nature. The first people had little control over nature. They had to depend on nature for their living. They had only simple tools. They did not know how to raise animals or plants. They had no permanent homes.
Animals skins were their only protection against the cold. The sun was their only source of light. With the passage of time, people discovered how to make fire and learnt to raise animals and crops. With development of farming, they began to build settlements.then they discovered new methods to make their work easier, and to increase their comforts.
through the ages technology has helped people to build a more comfortable way of life.Industrial technology began with the invention of the steam engine. The work in factories became faster. The production increased. The working hours were reduced.
The radio and television changed their entertainment habits.Technolagy helps people to live in greater comfort and security than in the past.Agriculture, medicine and transport technologies has brought many benefits to man.Today machines do most of the work.
Powered machines have increased production and given people more leisure. The needs of the people began to increase. The result is the creation of a world of modern science and technology.

In a corner of my bedroom
Grew a tree
A happy tree
My own tree
Its leaves were soft
Like flesh
And birds sang poems for me-then
Without warning-two men
With understanding smiles-and axes
Made out forged excuses
Came and chopped it down-either yesterday
Or the day before
I think it was the day before

While walking through the trams and cars
I changed to look up at the sky
And saw that it was full of stars
So starry sown!A man could not
With any care, have stuck a pin
Through any single vacant spot
And some were shining furiously
And some were big and some were small
But all were beautiful to see
Blue stars and gold! A sky of grey
The air between a velvet pall
I could not take my eyes away
Any there I sang this little psalm
Most awkwardly! Because I was
Standing between a car and train!

The Sinharaja forest is the only undisturbed rainforest left in Sri Lanka. It is about 9000 hectares in extent. Many of the plants are very rare.Over 60% of the tree species are found only in the lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka. If these species of trees are allowed to get destroyed, the world would lose them altogether.
So it is important that much effort is made to conserve this rich, valuable and fragile habitar. The Sinharaja rainforest reserve in Sri Lanka. In 1840 Sinharaja became a crown property. In 1988 the Sinharaja was made a national wilderness area.

Bordering the Yala National park to the east is the well-known bird sanctuary,Kumana.
As you approach Kumana you hear a rather noisy invitation. The sound of thousands of birds calling one another.
Here a large variety of indigenous acquatic birds gather from April to July making Kumana a bird watchers paradise.
There are herons, storks, egrets and spoonbills nesting in the trees above.
Water hens, purple coot and jacana build their nests in the swamp below.
From October onwards the migrants or the “bird tourists”arrive to get away from the northern winter.
They are attracted by the lagoons.
The tern, sandpiper, plover, duck and shipe is remarkable for the marathon flight it makes all the way from Siberia, although it weighs
only about 120 grammes. The migrant birds leave by the end of March.Ducks are the first to go.
They make a fine sight as they circle the land and move away in an arrow head formation against a blue sky on their long
way home

That time he became interested in chemical and electrical experiments and developed apparatus for an electromagnetic telegraph that he completed in 1836.The following year he filed a caveat,or legal notice,at the patent office in Washington,D.C.,and tried without success to obtain European patents for his apparatus.
He also invented a code, now known as the Morse Code, for use with his telegraph instrument.Several contemporary scientists gave Morse significant financial and technical help with his work on the telegraph and Morse Code.In 1843,the U.S.Congress appropriated $ 30000 for Morse to construct an experimental telegraph line between Wasshington,D.C.,and Baltimore,Maryland.
The line was successfully installed, and on May 24,1844,Morse sent the first message;”what hath God wrought”Morse was subsequently involved in much litigation over his claim to the invention of the telegraph, and the courts decided in his favour. He received many honours.Later he experimented with submarine cable telegrapy.

April showers make the
Days seem cooler,
The cuckoo bird bursts
Into Avurudu song.
The bright red Erabadu
Flowers in bloom,
The waiting will not be
Much long……..
The delicious smell of
Sweetmeats,
Kavum,Kokis and
Mouth-watering treats,
Lighting of hearth at
Auspicious times,
Prosperty and blessings
When temple bells
Chime…………..
To my country torn with
Endless war,
May the New Year bring
Love and peace,
Let North,South,West
And East,
Share the joys of a New
Year feast.
